Redemptorist Spirituality Course opens in June in English — Spanish/Portuguese Edition Follows in September
From June 1 to 20, 2026, Redemptorists and lay collaborators from across the world — Zimbabwe, Ireland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Thailand, India, Madagascar, Japan, Canada, and Kenya — will gather in Rome and Ciorani for another edition of the Redemptorist Spirituality Course. The Spanish/Portuguese edition will follow from September 7to 27. In a world marked by uncertainty, secularization, and rapid change, the course seeks to offer participants a renewed encounter with the spiritual and missionary roots of the Congregation.
Inspired by the Gospel invitation, “Let us go over to the other side” (Mk 4:35), this experience is more than an academic program. It is a spiritual pilgrimage through the places, memories, and charism that gave birth to the Redemptorist mission. To “cross over to the other side” means to leave behind what is familiar, to rediscover the freshness of the Gospel, and to allow oneself to be challenged once again by the missionary spirit of Saint Alphonsus.
Twenty-Eight Years of Spiritual Renewal
The origins of the Spirituality Courses date back to 1998, with the foundation of the Redemptorist Spirituality Center. Following the XXII General Chapter, the General Government recognized the urgent need to deepen the spiritual dimension of Redemptorist life and mission. What began as an initiative for one six-year period soon became a permanent service to the Congregation, because spirituality remains, even today, “our greatest challenge.”
The Center was established to promote ongoing renewal rooted in the Alphonsian and Redemptorist tradition, to foster a deeper awareness of Redemptorist spirituality at every level of the Congregation, and to place that spirituality within the wider horizon of the Church’s evangelizing mission.
A Space of Encounter for the Entire Redemptorist Family
Over the past twenty-eight years, the Spirituality Course has welcomed hundreds of participants: Redemptorist confreres, sisters, contemplative nuns, and lay collaborators from every continent. Throughout these years, the course has become a privileged space of encounter, formation, fraternity, and missionary renewal for the entire Redemptorist Family.
► Next week: a closer look at the places and people that make this course a unique spiritual pilgrimage — from Rome to Scala, from Naples to Montecassino. The Spanish/Portuguese edition (September 7–27) still has places available.
