The second day of the Confederation Assembly was both colourful and inspiring, marked by the conclusion of the Jubilee Year of Saint Gerard Majella and a vibrant cultural evening presented by the children of the Mother and Child Foundation, Thodupuzha, an institution run by former Redemptorist Mr. Joshy Odackal.
The day began with morning prayers, followed by the concluding sessions led by Dr. Jacob Parappally MSFS. The question-and-answer session was utilised effectively by the confreres, who engaged actively in discussions and reflections. These sessions were followed by group discussions, during which participants reflected on important questions concerning Redemptorist mission and community life in India. The discussions were animated by Fr. John Mathew.
In his concluding remarks, Fr. General emphasised that every confrere, regardless of his situation or assignment, has a vital role to play in the mission of the Congregation. He reminded the assembly that we are called to preach a Gospel of unity. While the assembly may be coming to an end, he noted, the mission continues.
Fr. Ivel congratulated the three units for their contributions and encouraged the confreres to respond generously to the missionary invitation from Iraq. Fr. Edward Joseph presented the Confederation Report, expressing appreciation for the readiness, collaboration and commitment shown by all three units in advancing the mission and vision of the Confederation.
The evening was particularly grace-filled, beginning with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Superior General. This was followed by a prayer service in honour of Saint Gerard Majella. During the service, Fr. Anoop Mundackal and his team beautifully rendered a Malayalam translation of a well-known Italian hymn dedicated to Saint Gerard. The Reds Media Team also presented a video highlighting the journey of the relic of Saint Gerard in India.
The day concluded on a joyful note with an impressive cultural programme by the children of the Mother and Child Foundation, Thodupuzha. The young performers presented a variety of traditional and modern cultural art forms, captivating the audience with their talent and enthusiasm.
As the second day drew to a close, the participants look forward to the outing planned for tomorrow anticipating a time of fraternity, friendship, and shared joy.
