The Redemptorist family was filled with joy and thanksgiving as eight young men made their First Profession in the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (CSsR) gathered on 19th July 2026 at St. Joseph’s Parish in Merrivale, South Africa. Their commitment marks an important milestone in their journey of religious life as they dedicate themselves to following Christ the Redeemer in the spirit of Saint Alphonsus Liguori.
The newly professed confreres reflect the international character of the Congregation, with four coming from Zimbabwe, two from Kenya, and two from Mozambique. Their profession is a sign of hope for the Church and for the Redemptorist mission in Africa, where the call to proclaim the Good News to the most abandoned continues to inspire many young people.

The celebration brought together confreres, family members, friends, and the faithful in an atmosphere of prayer, gratitude, and rejoicing. The visiting Redemptorists who joined the Novice Master and the Socius were the Coordinator of the Redemptorists of Africa and Madagascar, Fr Noel Sottimo CSsR, The Provincial of South Africa, Fr Cecil Dowling CSsR, The Provincial of Bangalore, Fr Edward Joseph CSsR – the Major Superior of Kenya, The Mission Superior of Kenya, Fr Titus Wambuwa CSsR, The Provincial of London, Fr Richard Reid CSsR – the Major Superior of Zimbabwe, The Regional Superior of Zimbabwe, Fr Kenneth Macharaga CSsR, Representing the Region in Mozabique, Fr. Alejandro García, CSsR (Delegate of the Provincial of Peter Donders Province, Argentina), The Provincial of Bangalore received the Vows of the two Kenyan Confreres, the Delegate representing the Region of Mozambique recelved the Vows of the two Mozambequean Confreres, and the Provincial of London reveived the Vows the four Zimbabwean Confreres.

As these eight newly professed Redemptorists begin the next stage of their formation and missionary preparation, we entrust them to the loving care of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, praying that they may remain faithful witnesses of the Gospel and joyful missionaries of abundant redemption.
