From July 27 to 31 of this year, the “San Alfonso” formation house in the city of Trujillo hosted the Redemptorist Vocations Retreat, an experience of grace and encounter that brought together 13 young people from Lima, Chincha Baja, Piura and Trujillo, who generously responded to the invitation to deepen their understanding of the call that God addresses to them to follow Christ the Redeemer.

For five days, the participants experienced an intense journey of reflection, discernment, prayer, and fraternal fellowship. Through moments of formation, the celebration of the Eucharist, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, personal guidance, group dynamics, and opportunities for dialogue, the young people were able to gain a deeper understanding of the charism of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, founded by Saint Alphonsus Maria de’ Liguori, and discover the beauty of a life dedicated to the service of the Gospel.

The coexistence was also characterized by the joy of daily sharing. Moments of leisure and recreation strengthened the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among the participants, creating a favorable environment for experiencing community life as a gift and a sign of God’s presence.

Each day was an opportunity to listen to the voice of the Lord, who continues to call courageous and generous young people to proclaim the Abundant Redemption, especially among the poorest and most abandoned. The experience challenged each participant to continue cultivating their spiritual life and remaining open to God’s will.

A special thanks to the Trujillo community who, with their service and prayers, contributed to the success of this vocational experience.

Let us continue to pray for Redemptorist vocations, so that the Lord may continue to awaken in the hearts of many young people the desire to follow Christ the Redeemer and to joyfully proclaim to the world the abundance of his love. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Mt 9:37-38).
