The Redemptorists and the faithful of St. Alphonsus Church in Nong Khai Province, Thailand, gathered in joyful thanksgiving to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Parish Church. The celebration coincided with the Feast of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori and was made even more special by marking the 60th birthday of Fr. Michael Che, CSsR, a Redemptorist priest serving the community.
The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by His excellency Joseph Luechai Thatwisai of the Diocese of Udon Thani, who joined the parish community in offering thanks to God for six decades of faith, growth, and missionary service.
A highlight of the celebration was the First Holy Communion of seven young parishioners, who received the Eucharist for the first time. Their participation added a special sense of hope and renewal to the occasion.
The anniversary brought together Redemptorists, priests, religious sisters, and faithful from different regions, creating an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and communion. United in prayer and celebration, the community praised God for the abundant blessings bestowed upon St. Alphonsus Church throughout its sixty-year journey.
The double celebration served as a powerful witness to God’s enduring love and mercy, expressed through the life of the parish and the dedicated ministry of Fr. Michael Che, CSsR. It was a memorable occasion that strengthened the bonds of faith and renewed the community’s commitment to proclaiming the Gospel in the spirit of St. Alphonsus.
