August has been a time of activity and commitment for the Oblate Sisters of the Most Holy Redeemer in Brazil. Last Friday, August 21, the Antonia Project team participated in the Seminar on the progress and challenges of networks combating violence against women in the 20 years since the Maria da Penha Law.
It was an important moment of reflection on the path travelled during these years, of exchanging experiences and of dialogue about the challenges we still have to overcome.
We continue to strengthen the construction of an increasingly welcoming, integrated, and effective support network, committed to guaranteeing rights and fighting violence against women.
Likewise, the Oblate Network in Brazil celebrated the 48th anniversary of the Women’s Pastoral Network – Oblates on August 19th, together with the women who are part of our history and give meaning to our mission. On this occasion, thirty women whom we accompany joined us for that special afternoon, marked by celebration, remembrance, and spirituality.
Through our institutional video, we reflected on part of this journey and listened to the stories of some women about how they came to know Pastoral Care and formed bonds with us. We also remembered, with affection and gratitude, Serra and Antônia, our founders, recognizing the legacy of those who dreamed of and helped build this mission.
Amidst sharing, prayers, and devotion, we gave thanks for every encounter, every story, every challenge, and every life that, throughout these 48 years, has been intertwined with the journey of the Women’s Ministry. “Celebrating our history is to renew our hope and commitment to continue walking together for the dignity, life, and rights of women,” emphasized Fernanda Lins, coordinator of the institution.
We continue to celebrate the journey we have made and renew our commitment to every woman who is part of this story.
