In August 2027, World Youth Day will be held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The theme of this event is taken from the Gospel of St. John: “Take courage; I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33). These are the words Jesus spoke to his disciples during the Last Supper. They are an encouragement not to lose heart in the face of adversity, but to walk courageously through life, trusting in God. The Risen Jesus accompanies them on this journey.

The Redemptorist Youth and Vocations Ministry will also prepare to participate in World Youth Day. Groups of pilgrims from the Youth and Vocations Ministry will arrive from many countries.

During World Youth Day Seoul 2027, there will also be a gathering of young people from Redemptorist ministries—Alphonsian Day. This gathering is scheduled for August 4, 2027, at the Redemptorist Church in Seoul.

From September 4–6, 2026, a meeting of the organizing committee for the Alphonsian Day during WYD Seoul 2027 was held. It was decided that the event would take place in the afternoon of August 4, 2027. The Redemptorist Church, St. Clement’s Café, and the school gym—located next to our Church—will be available to the young people. During the Alphonsian Day, a meeting with Superior General, Fr. Rogerio Gomes, a time of communal prayer, and the Redemptorist Youth Festival are planned.

During World Youth Day Seoul 2027, it will not be possible to stay overnight at the Redemptorist Church in Seoul, as we do not have a parish here. Groups traveling to World Youth Day Seoul 2027 should make their own arrangements.

In October 2026, a website will be launched where you can find basic information and resources about the Alphonsian Day.

We warmly invite young people and Redemptorists planning to attend WYD Seoul 2027 to join us in celebrating Alphonsian Day.
