95 years ago, the first Redemptorist missionaries arrived in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica. They were fathers Pedro del Palacio and Félix Ruíz de Samaniego. For the first months, they stayed in the parish of Grecia, Alajuela. As genuine sons of St. Alphonsus Liguori, they began their apostolic work in our Central American countries.

As the Redemptorists in Central America, we have inherited the great spiritual patrimony of our Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer – to be a specific charism in the holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Due to the effort and work of many confreres, we have developed an evangelisation project presented in the Constitutions and Statutes of our Congregation. We are “Heirs of a tradition”, and therefore we are called to “renew our mission” in Central America.

From the writings of Father Manuel Cruz, C.Ss.R.

Congratulations, Redemptorist family!
