Rejoice Always! Be Young, Be Holy, Be Healed!” This is the theme for the 2nd Alphonsian Youth Mission Day held at Lipa Mission Community on July 13-17, organized by the Vice Province of Manila for the Redemptorist Youth Mission (RYM). It was attended by more than 120 young missionaries from various apostolic units and mission areas of the Redemptorists, including seminarians from St. Clement Mission Seminary.

Together with the local youth directors of RYM – VP Manila, also present during the event were Rev. Fr. Victorino Cueto, CSsR, the Superior of the Redemptorist Vice Province of Manila, Rev. Fr. Edilberto Cepe, CSsR, the Superior of the Redemptorist Province of Cebu, Rev. Fr. Jomil Baring, CSsR, Provincial Youth Director of Cebu, Rev. Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, the Executive Secretary of the CBCP- Commission on Youth and His Excellency Most Rev. Gilbert Garcera, DD, the Archbishop of Lipa, who celebrated the Sending-Off Mass on the last day of AYMD.

Indeed, we have so many reasons to rejoice that despite the pandemic, our youth ministry flourished and has fulfilled its calling to be the youth in mission.

The call to be young reminded us that our youthfulness resides in our hearts, ready to give and be at the service of the mission, allowing the enthusiasm of the youth that they may lead the Church.

The call to be holy is an initiative from God. It is a gift that every youth must be ready to embrace. This also calls every young people to deepen their relationship with Jesus, who from His youth built His relationship with the Father.

And the call to be healed is an assurance from the Lord that in the midst of this pandemic, the Great Healer, Jesus Christ, will touch the heart of every youth. That through the healing grace of the Lord, every young may become a healer, healing the wounded world.

And in connection with the 75th anniversary of Redemptorist Manila as a Vice-Province, the Youth Ministry shares in the joy of mission, to “rejoice always!” and to constantly contemplate the abiding presence of Jesus in every missionary endeavour of the apostolic unit.
