On Sunday, 14th May, Holy Cross Parish, Muttada, Kerala, was happy to participate in the Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Frs. Paul Pazhangattu C.Ss.R and George Puthenpura C.Ss.R, on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of their religious Profession in the Congregation of the Redemptorists. Along with five other companions, of whom three persevere fruitfully still, Frs. Paul and George took their first vows on 31st May 1973 at Kotagiri. These two had been two pioneer missioners from the Kerala zone of the Bangalore Province ever since their Priestly Ordination.
Fr. Paul has served the Congregation as Provincial Superior, Novice Master, Superior of various communities, Parish Priest in different Parishes, Professor of Canon Law, Missioner, and now the Mission Superior in Kenya. Fr. George began as a Hindi missioner in North India, Rector, Dean, and Professor of Theology in our St. Alphonsus College, Bangalore, superior of various communities, and visiting professor in various seminaries, both in India and abroad. Jubilee is an occasion for them, as they claimed, to count their blessings of God in the past, to renew their consecration in the Congregation as well as to re-commit to the mission of the Congregation. The Parishioners joined to thank God for the gift of them to the Congregation and prayed that God may bless them abundantly so that they may continue to be God’s blessings to many more in the days to come.
