Final vows, two diaconate and a priestly ordination in the Province of Bratislava-Prague

There were two new deacons and one new priest in the Province of Bratislava-Prague. From the hands of the Bishop of Banská Bystrica, Mons. Marián Chovanec received diaconate ordination Pavel Hudousek CSsR and Lukáš Michalovič CSsR at the solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary celebration on August 15, 2023, in the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; deacon Stanislav Marcin CSsR was ordained a priest. On Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on the Holy Mountain in Příbram, Brother Pavel Hudousek took lifelong vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, as well as a promise and oath to remain in the Congregation, into the hands of Vicar Provincial of the Redemptorists of the Province of Bratislava – Prague František Boldy CSsR.

Stanislav Marcin, who comes from Raslavice in the Archdiocese of Košice, began his formation in the Redemptorist order in 2014. After the novitiate in Lubaszowa in Poland and in Podolínec, he took temporary vows of chastity, poverty and obedience on August 15, 2017. He made his lifelong vows on August 15, 2020. He completed his master’s studies at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Trnava in June 2022. After his diaconate ordination on August 29, 2022, he worked in the Banská Bystrica – Radvaň Redemptorist community, where he will continue his priestly ministry.

Pavel Hudousek comes from Kostelec nad Orlicí in the diocese of Královohradecka. He began his formation in the Redemptorist Congregation in 2015 and after a one-year novitiate in Lubaszowa, Poland, took temporary vows of chastity, poverty and obedience on August 15, 2019; he took his lifelong vows on August 13, 2023. He completed his master’s studies at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Trnava in June 2023. He will serve as a deacon in the Redemptorist community in Frýdek.

Lukáš Michalovič, who comes from Prievidza in the Archdiocese of Banskobystrica, began his formation in the Redemptorist order in 2016. He took temporary vows of chastity, poverty and obedience on August 15, 2019, after a novitiate in Lubaszowa, Poland. After completing his bachelor’s studies and his 4th year at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Trnava, he studied at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He made his lifetime vows on August 15, 2022. In the following academic year, he will continue his master’s studies in theology and philosophy at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Trnava in the 6th year. As a deacon, he will serve in the student community of the Redemptorists Bratislava – Puškinova.

In the light of the charism of St. Alphonsus, the Redemptorists of the Province of Bratislava – Prague proclaim the Gospel to the poor and the abandoned through parish missions and retreats, which are at the same time the first apostolic priorities. Others are evangelization through the media and the publishing house Word Among Us, parish pastoral care and work in places of pilgrimage. The first of the fundamental priorities is shared mission, which is why the Redemptorists collaborate with the lay communities of Calvary, River of Life, Koral and Shekinah. By the decree of the Superior General, the Province of Bratislava – Prague was established in February 2017, within which the Redemptorists are active in Bratislava (Puškinova and Kramáre communities), Banská Bystrica – Radvaň, Gaboltov, Podolínec, Kostolná – Záriečie, Tasovice, Frýdek, Svatá Hora in Příbram and Kaunas (Lithuania). The Michalovce Vice-Province is active in three monasteries in Slovakia (Michalovce, Stropkov, Stará Ľubovňa) and in two in the Transcarpathia region of Ukraine (Korolevo, Uzhhorod). In addition to the popular missions, it also conducts missions in schools, spiritual retreats, leads the Holy Rosary Archconfraternity, publishes the magazine Missionary and books in the publishing house Missionary, manages the Basilica Minor in Michalovce, as well as parishes in Stara Ľubovňa and Stropkov.
