The visit of the General Government to the Vice-province of West Africa (Africa d’Ouest) began on February 4. This article reports on the second day of the visit, which will last until March 14.
On February 5, 2025, the Saint John Neumann community joyously received Fathers Paul Vinh and Noël Sottima, who visited on behalf of the General Government to give emphasis to the members of the Vice-Province of West Africa that the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer is a missionary Congregation that continues to reach out to the poor and the most abandoned. Having a shared vision for spreading the message of salvation today is very crucial. They also conveyed their support and encouragement for the unit.
The Saint John Neumann community serves as a formation house for the Postulants of the Vice-Province. These Postulants are currently studying philosophy at the Private Higher Institute of Philosophy – Maison Lavigerie, which is run by the Missionaries of Africa and situated in Kossoghin, a neighborhood in Ouagadougou.
Following the Eucharistic celebration that marked the start of their visit. The guests proceeded to the Institute of Philosophy to engage with the academic setting and meet the administration of the Institute, which has been welcoming the Redemptorist Postulants from the Vice-Province of West Africa for over ten years.
Devoted to their mission, the visitors arrived in the morning on the 5th of Feb. at the Saint John Neumann community to celebrate Mass and pray Lauds with the community. It was only after these moments of prayers to seek the guidance from God, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the confreres began their discussions with the community members.
