Fathers Paul Luu Quang Bao VINH (General Consultor) and Noël Koutré SOTTIMA (Coordinator of the Redemptorists of Africa and Madagascar) spent forty days traveling through six West African countries to meet with the Redemptorists of the Vice-Province of West Africa and the joint mission of the Units: Nigeria and West Africa in Togo. This visit took place from February 3 to March 13, 2025. The 13th marked the closing of the Fraternal Visit.
The closing of this Fraternal Visit was attended by Reverend Fr. Rogerio GOMES, the Superior General, who was welcomed in Ouagadougou on March 12, 2025, at 1:15 a.m., having come especially for the closing of the visit. The closing ceremony took place at our Redemptorist Scholastics House, Maison Saint Gérard in Ouagadougou.
On the morning of March 13, we had a discussion with the Very Reverend Father General, Rogerio Gomes. In this fraternal conversation, he delivered his message of encouragement and a call for the renewal of Redemptorist Apostolic life in West Africa. Some brothers interacted with Fr. Superior General with questions and answers.
The morning concluded with Mass presided over by the Superior General. The afternoon was devoted to the Canonical Visitation. Fathers Paul and Noël delivered their reports following the visit before giving their recommendations.
In the evening, we gave thanks to God during Vespers followed by fellowship get together with a Gaudeamus: dinner and a recreational evening.
Fr. Marc Toguyeni, CSsR.
