May 2, 2025, was a day of great joy and gratitude for the Vice Province of Majella, as we celebrated the ordination of Dn. Ruban Nishith Lobo, C.Ss.R., to the priesthood. The ordination was solemnly conferred by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore, at St Antony Church, Allipade, Mangalore, India.

Born on August 12, 1990, Nishith is the youngest of 13 siblings. He joined the Redemptorists after completing his post-graduate studies and while he was employed in a firm. He made his first profession as a Redemptorist on June 20, 2018. He completed his theological studies at Mt. St. Alphonsus, Bangalore, and was ordained a deacon on October 12, 2024.

The ordination day was a long-awaited and emotional moment, especially for his siblings, who came together in full support to make the celebration a memorable one. Their strong family bond and joyful presence were a beautiful expression of the values that have shaped Fr. Nishith’s vocation. Despite the loss of his beloved parents, their blessings were deeply felt by him and his family on this sacred occasion. A large gathering of confreres, priests, religious, and lay faithful graced the celebration. All our seminarians were present and played an active role in assisting with the liturgy.

Fr. Nishith is known for his gentle demeanour, mature disposition, and quiet strength. As members of the Vice Province of Majella, we thank the Lord for the gift of his vocation. We pray that he may be a faithful and joyful Missionary of Hope, walking in the footsteps of the Redeemer. May his priestly ministry be filled with grace, health, and abundant blessings.

Fr. Louis Menezes, CSsR.
Vicar, Vice-Province of Majella
