On June 26, Pope Leo XIV received the bishops of the Redemptorists and Scalabrinian during a private audience, expressing gratitude for their service to the Church. He thanked them for the evangelization of the poor and the marginalized and for their service to migrants. The Pope emphasized that the appointment of bishops from among the members of the two congregations is a sacrifice, especially in times of shortage of religious, but also a great gift for the universal Church.

The Pope recalled the charisma of the founders, St. Alphonsus Maria de’ Liguori and St. John Baptist Scalabrini, who dedicated themselves to the poor and migrants, respectively. He encouraged them to maintain relationships of fraternal help and to follow the voice of God’s love, conforming their actions to the work of the Lord.

Present at the audience together with the bishops were the members of the General Government of the Redemptorist Congregation.
