In June, the beautiful Spanish city of Granada celebrates its devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help in a special way, preparing for a centennial that will soon have national repercussions.

According to Spanish media reports, May 12, 1927, will forever resonate in the collective memory of this city, as it was the day on which the Mother of God was crowned by Cardinal Archbishop Casanova y Marzol. That event transcended borders, garnering attention from newspapers across the country, which echoed the popular fervor. Since then, every year, Novena after Novena, Procession after Procession, the media has documented the profound devotion felt in the city streets at the passing of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a symbol that has endured over the years, unlike many brotherhoods that have been lost to oblivion.

Indeed, last Saturday, June 7th, the magic of the procession of the icon of Our Lady was once again experienced. The Shrine opened its doors, and the beautiful procession floated through the streets of Granada in an unforgettable celebration.

Iconic locations such as Plaza de la Trinidad and the return to San Jerónimo have served as points of reference for those present. Along the way, moments of prayer and song created an atmosphere of devotion and joy, always accompanied by a musical band that further heightens the solemnity and festive atmosphere of the procession.
In 2025, this event has not only been a manifestation of faith, but also a celebration of the love and unity of a people who tenderly look to their Mother, Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

From the Archdiocese of Granada, we have received news about the Novena, which took place from May 31st to June 8th, with the celebration of the Eucharist every day, offered by the city’s institutions. Prayers were offered for the sick, the poor, and the deceased, as well as for families, engaged couples, married couples, and children. The conclusion of the Novena included a procession through the streets of Granada.
