A Day of Joy, Commitment, and Celebration
Yet another day for the Redemptorists of the province of Bangalore as they gathered to witness the perpetual profession of four Redemptorist students that took place on June 9th, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Church, Bangalore. It was a momentous occasion filled with joy, reverence, and heartfelt emotions a milestone in the spiritual journey of these young men. The event was a testament to their unwavering faith, deep commitment, and readiness to dedicate their lives to the mission of the Redemptorist congregation.
The four students John S. CSsR., Arun Ekka, CSsR., Anthony Raju, CSsR., Joseph Repudi, CSsR., publicly professed their perpetual vows, committing themselves to the Redemptorist charism of serving the most abandoned and preaching the Good News of Christ. Each of these brothers brought a unique cultural and personal heritage to this sacred moment: one hails from Odisha, another from Tamil Nadu, and two from Andhra Pradesh. United by their shared calling, they will all serve the Province of Bangalore, contributing to its mission and spiritual endeavors.
The ceremony began with a procession of priests, family members, and the four brothers, accompanied by a harmonious choir that set a tone of reverence and awe. Approximately 40 priests were present to witness this significant event, underscoring the communal and ecclesial nature of the occasion. Fr. Edward Raju, CSsR., the provincial superior, the main celebrant presided over the Eucharistic celebration, leading the congregation in prayers and blessings that resonated the day.
Family members of the brothers were present, their faces a blend of pride and joy, as they watched their loved ones take this significant step. The final profession ceremony included the solemn recitation of vows, and a special blessing by Fr. Edward, symbolizing the Church’s affirmation of their commitment.
The perpetual profession was not merely an event but the culmination of years of rigorous spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation. The journey began with their initial formation in Bangalore and Trichy, where the seeds of their vocation were nurtured. This was followed by their novitiate in Kotagiri, a time of deep spiritual reflection and discernment. They then pursued their philosophical studies in Varca, which helped them engage critically with theological principles, and continue their theological education in Bangalore, equipping them with the knowledge and pastoral skills necessary for their future ministry.
This comprehensive formation ensured that the students were not only prepared to take their perpetual vows but also ready to embrace the challenges and joys of Redemptorist life with maturity, wisdom, and faith.
The perpetual profession was followed by a vibrant celebration that reflected the joy of the occasion. The finally professed were felicitated with heartfelt best wishes and Vivat that brought smiles to everyone present. The atmosphere was one of gratitude and festivity, as priests, family members, and well-wishers gathered to congratulate the brothers and pray for their future endeavors.
As the finally professed students prepare for their diaconate ordination in near future, they are stepping into a new phase of their spiritual journey. The diaconate will mark another important milestone, enabling them to serve the Church more fully and prepare for eventual priestly ordination. Their commitment to the Redemptorist mission remains steadfast, and their journey thus far is a testament to their dedication, resilience, and faith.
The final profession of John, Anthony, Arun, and Joseph was a day of immense significance not just for them, but also for their families, the Redemptorist congregation, and the Church at large. It was a celebration of their faith, their journey, and their commitment to serving God and His people. As they continue their path toward the diaconate and beyond, the prayers and support of the community will undoubtedly accompany them, guiding and strengthening them in their mission.
