On the Solemnity of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, the Redemptorist community in Rome, along with the faithful and pilgrims, gathered at the Shrine of Perpetual Help. The General Consultor, Father Ivel Mendanha, CSsR, presided over the Holy Mass.
In his homily, Fr. Ivel emphasized: “Saint Alphonsus used all his talents and energies, his abilities and the blessings that God had granted him for the sole purpose of ensuring that the poor and abandoned could hear the Good News through preaching and writing, through art and music, through the presence of the Redemptorists who lived among them.”
Then, Fr. Ivel invited those present to renew their commitment to the God of love and to reach out to all those who need love and mercy, tenderness, and kindness in our homes, in our neighbourhoods, in the Church and beyond.
