On the occasion of the Jubilee 2025, the young people of the Redemptorist Youth and Vocation Ministry of Southern Europe and other units, who came for the celebrations in Rome, gathered in the church of Sant’Alfonso de Liguori on August 1st.
“Dear young people, may this Jubilee be a significant moment in the life of each of you. May it be a time of encounter with the Lord, our Hope par excellence. May He send each of you into the world, just as He sent His disciples,” wrote Fr. Rogério Gomes CSsR, Superior General, in his message (Italian).
Archbishop Alfonso Amarante CSsR, Archbishop and Rector of the Lateran University, presided over the Holy Mass and delivered the homily. He said: We are chosen by God to proclaim the Gospel, a message of hope. To do this, we must nourish ourselves with the Eucharist and the Word of God. He then invited listeners to ask themselves: to what extent am I willing to proclaim this hope, to say “yes” to my vocation as a Christian.
After Mass, the young actors performed a pantomime for their peers, showing how Mary, Mother of God, accompanies us on the path of our vocation and supports us with her intercession.

Alphonsian Day was celebrated for the first time before the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rome this year as part of the Jubilee of Youth, which took place from July 28th to August 3rd. The highlight of the gathering was Saturday’s vigil and the Mass presided over by Pope Leo XIV in Tor Vergata.
