The working committee for the revision of the Vocations Manual convened in Tacloban City on October 2-4, 2025, to finalize the long-awaited updating of the 2004 manual of the Redemptorist Province of Cebu. This initiative, mandated by the 2023 Provincial Chapter, seeks to professionalize the recruitment and accompaniment of young working professionals who are discerning a Redemptorist vocation.
The working team includes Fr. Jesus Sanito Umbac, CSsR; Fr. Jean Paul Tabasa, CSsR; Fr. Miguel Gaspe, CSsR; Fr. Hilario Idulsa, CSsR; Fr. Dennis Galan CSsR, Fr. Joey Trillo, CSsR; Fr. Chloie Que (host); and Fr. Ferderiz Cantiller, CSsR, who serves as facilitator. Supporting them as the secretariat are lay vocation promoters Ms. Michaela Troncoso, Ms. Mary Christine Aban, and Mr. Julius Salado. Together, this group embodies the shared mission of making Redemptorist vocation ministry more responsive, relevant, and deeply rooted in the pastoral care of those seeking God’s call in today’s world.
Recognizing that today’s young adults live in fast-paced environments shaped by studies, careers, and constant digital engagement, the team emphasized the need for vocation ministry to create “crossroads”—spaces for reflection where young people can pause, listen, and ask life’s deeper questions, especially: “What does God want me to do with my life?” The renewed manual underscores that vocation promotion is not merely about filling formation houses but about nurturing a discerning heart—a process that leads individuals toward mature and well-grounded decisions in faith.
Fr. Ferderiz Cantiller, C.Ss.R.
