The Mid-Sexennial Meeting of the Conference of Asia Oceania began on the 10th of November 2025 in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) city in Vietnam. The Province of Vietnam celebrating its 100 years of the arrival of the first Redemptorists in Vietnam in 1925 is hosting this meeting at Ky Dong in Saigon.
There are a total of 35 participants including Fr. Rogerio Gomes, C.Ss.R., Superior General, Fr. Joseph Ivel Mendanha, C.Ss.R., Consultor General, Fr Paul Vinh, Consultor General and Fr. Yoakim Ndelo C.Ss.R., the Conference Moderator. The facilitators are Frs. Ino Cueto, C.Ss.R, (V Province of Malaysia and Singapore) Fr Edward Joseph, C.Ss.R., (Province of Bangalore, and Fr Peter Jittapol, C.Ss.R. (Province of Thailand). The rest of the confreres are Provincials, Vice Provincials and delegates for the different Units of the Conference including the Brothers representative and the representative of the Partners in Mission.
Fr. Rogerio Gomes celebrated the inaugural mass of the Holy Spirit and called on all the participants to an attitude of openness to the promptings of the Holy spirit in this week of meeting. In his homily he emphasised the need for Wisdom, a gift of the Holy Spirit as well an openness of heart and mind to listen to each other for the one purpose of building up the One Missionary Body of the Congregation.

The first day of the Mid-sexennial Meeting commenced with the welcome from Fr. Dominic, the Provincial of Vietnam, the presentation of members by Fr. Yoakim, the Conference Coordinator and then the opening of the Meeting by Fr. Rogerio Gomes. Fr General then presented his report of the 3 years of the General Government’s plan of action and work done so far with two short videos of reporting on the Decisions of the XXVI General Chapter and the work of the General Secretariats and Commissions. Time was then given for clarification and questions and sharing based on the report of Fr. General. The Methodology of the meeting was explained by Fr. Ivel and Fr. Ino then concluded the day with an invitation to spend the afternoon in reading and study of the documents to be used during the next 5 days of meeting.
