XIII CLAIR – CLAHER brings together the Brothers of Latin America and the Caribbean in the meeting on the theme: Jubilee of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Saint Gerard Majella

On the evening of December 1st, the Sant’Alfonso Seminary in Aparecida (São Paulo, Brazil) hosted the Redemptorist Brothers of the Redemptorist Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean for the 13th CLAIR – CLAHER (Latin American Congress of Redemptorist Brothers).

The meeting began with a Eucharistic celebration at 6:00 pm in the seminary chapel, presided over by Fr. Marlos Aurélio da Silva, C.Ss.R., the Provincial Superior of the Province of Our Lady of Aparecida, and concelebrated by the Coordinator of the Redemptorist Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean, Fr. César Torres, C.Ss.R.

In his homily, the Provincial Superior emphasized that this is a moment to broaden horizons and see the diversity present in the Redemptorist Congregation as a source of enrichment:  “It is an opportunity to broaden perspectives and embrace diversity, conveying the idea that those who are different from me do not necessarily have to be my adversaries. It is beautiful that there are differences among us, because this enriches the life of a group. Despite our differences, it is also a moment of communion, of embracing what we share. “

With the theme “Jubilee of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Saint Gerard Majella,” the congress aims:

  • To deepen the identity and mission of the Redemptorist Brother in the context of Latin America and the Caribbean, through sharing and training sessions;
  • To plan for future actions, in particular the programming of the Jubilee Year of St. Gerard Majella;
  • To promote studies on Vocational Ministry and the Formation of Brothers;
  • To celebrate and reflect on the final months of the Jubilee  commemorating the birth of the Holy Redemptorist Brother.

With the Eucharistic Celebration, the XIII CLAIR – CLAHER was officially inaugurated, setting the tone of spirituality, formation and reflection that will accompany the proceedings until December 5th.

Let us pray for the Redemptorist Brothers of Latin America and the Caribbean at this special time!
