Novices from the Redemptorist Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer celebrated their religious profession on Sunday, 4 January 2026, at the Church of Santa Teresinha in Tietê (SP), Brazil.

Ten young people professed their first vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, publicly committing themselves to follow Jesus Christ in Redemptorist religious life, serving the mission with the poorest and most abandoned.

After an intense formation process, the young novices professed their first vows of obedience, chastity, and poverty, publicly committing themselves to follow Christ in the Redemptorist Congregation. The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Marlos Aurélio da Silva, C.Ss.R., Provincial Superior of the Province of Our Lady of Aparecida, and concelebrated by the Master of Novices, Fr. José Martín Medina Japón, C.Ss.R. Also present were the Socius, Brother Wendel Kledir da Silva, C.Ss.R., and other priests. Redemptorists from different provinces also attended the celebration, as well as guests, family members and members of the community. The theme chosen for this year’s Religious Profession was: ‘To be, among men, humble and courageous servants of Christ’ (Const. 6).

The novices who professed their vows are: Carlos Roberto, Erik Rodrigues (Province of Our Lady Aparecida), Carlos Damian, Ever Emílio (Province of Pedro Donders), Francisco Ávilo, José Mateus (Province of Brasilia), Jean Batista Renilson Assunção (Province of Curitiba), Jean Jacob, Lovinsky Junior (Province of Our Lady of Perpetual Help).

The Provincial Superior of the Province of Our Lady of Aparecida emphasised the gratitude of the Redemptorist Congregation for the total dedication of these ten young men and reiterated the choice of theme:

“Today we can say that our Redemptorist soul is filled with gratitude, joy and great hope, for you and with you. Today, you will freely consecrate yourselves to the Most Holy Redeemer in our missionary family. The purpose of this lies in the motto you have chosen: “To be, among men, humble and courageous servants of Christ”. Today, living this Constitution number 6 means a lot in a world marked by so much arrogance, so much pride and so much lust for power; you desire to serve with humility.”

Fr. Marlos Aurélio da Silva, C.Ss.R.,

Let us unite in prayer for these young missionaries, that, strengthened by divine grace, they may persevere in their vocation and faithfully proclaim the Copious Redemption.
