The Redemptorist Missionaries of the Mother Province of Perpetual Help (Central America and the Caribbean) celebrate the II Session of their Provincial Chapter in the Dominican Republic.

From January 26 to 31, 2026, the city of Santo Domingo became the epicenter of missionary discernment for the Province of Central America and the Caribbean. The John Paul II Spirituality Center (CEFIJUFA) hosted the chapter delegates participating in the Second Session of the Provincial Chapter, a key event for the future of the Congregation in the Region.

Consolidating the Mission in the Heart of the Caribbean, under the direction of Fr. Thierry Raphael, C.Ss.R., Provincial Superior, and with the presence of representatives from 11 countries that make up this Province —including Haiti, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, Dominican Republic and Cuba.

This chapter seeks to continue the decisions made at the first session held in July of last year in Panama City. The choice of Santo Domingo as the headquarter is not accidental; the Dominican capital has established itself as the home of this new missionary unit, symbolizing the unity of a multicultural province that speaks Spanish, French, Creole, and English.

During these days of assembly, the chapter members have focused on three strategic objectives: the Apostolic Plan, Formation and Finance.

It is important to recognize that the Redemptorist missionaries in these geographical areas work in contexts of great social, migratory, and economic challenges. “Our mission in Central America and the Caribbean is to be witnesses of hope amidst complex realities. This chapter at CEFIJUFA is a necessary pause to listen to the Spirit and renew our commitment to Abundant Redemption. The meeting culminated on January 31 with the drafting of the conclusions that will guide the pastoral work for the coming years. We must remember that Father Alex Hernández Ochoa, C.Ss.R., who accompanied the participants as a canon lawyer for the successful development of this phase of the chapter. We also have the assistance of Father Bosco José Rodríguez, C.Ss.R., as principal secretary.”

We thank all the chapter members for their presence and the work of each of the office bearers for the smooth running of our chapter. May Mary, our Perpetual Help, the Saints, martyrs, and blessed of our Congregation intercede for our Province.

Fraternally in Christ the Redeemer,
Fr. Renold Antoine, C.Ss.R.
