The year 2026 marks two important jubilees linked to Blessed Methodius Dominic Trčka, CSsR. The first falls on July 6, 2026, marking the 140th anniversary of his birth, and the second on November 4, 2026, 25 years after his beatification in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.

The Redemptorists of the Vice-Province of Michalovce decided to organize several events to mark this occasion. One of these took place on March 23-24, 2026. Transfusion centers were set up in three Greek Catholic Redemptorist monasteries in Slovakia—in Michalovce, Stropkov, and Stará Ľubovňa—where the public could come to donate blood. The 85 donors included Redemptorist fathers, nuns, eparchial priests, and lay faithful.

The inspiration was the gift of life: Blessed Methodius Dominic Trčka gave his life with a martyr’s death for the faith, so that others could live their faith freely. This time, as a sign of gratitude, subsequent generations of Redemptorists—followers of Blessed Methodius—were offered this opportunity to donate their blood so that someone else might live.

On the occasion of the jubilee of Blessed Methodius Dominic Trčka, the Misionár publishing house has published a new booklet entitled “Novena to Blessed Methodius Dominic Trčka CSsR,” written by Fr. Daniel Atanáz Mandzák CSsR. This publication was given to every donor and all staff of the transfusion units.

Superior of the Vice-Province
