In March 2026, two vibrant Summer Catechism Camps were held in northern Thailand, bringing together children, youth, and catechists in a spirit of faith, cultural appreciation, and joyful community life. Both camps served as meaningful moments of evangelization and spiritual renewal, especially among indigenous communities under the pastoral care of the Redemptorists.
The first camp, held from March 22–29 at St. Peter Church, Khun Mae La (Mae Hong Son Province), carried the theme “Bonds among the Local Parishes and the Redemptorists.” There were 207 children from mission areas and parishes of the Diocese of Chiang Mai. Organized by religious sisters, Redemptorist confreres and postulants, and local catechists, the program included catechesis on the Sacraments, lessons in the Pgaz K’Nyau (Karen) language, recreational activities, a cultural performance, and a candlelight farewell ceremony.
The second camp, held from March 25–29 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Pa Fang, focused on the theme “Renewing Faith, Journeying Toward Easter.” It brought together 130 participants, including clergy, religious, catechists, and 112 children and youth. The camp emphasized preparation for the Sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion through catechesis, prayer, and communal living, while also promoting cultural identity through the teaching of the Pgaz K’Nyau language.
Both camps were marked by joy, friendship, and a deep sense of God’s presence. Many participants expressed their desire to return next year, grateful for the care and dedication of the organizers. The Pa Fang camp concluded with a Thanksgiving Mass on Palm Sunday, attended by around 250 parishioners—an inspiring sign of a vibrant and living faith community.
Together, these camps highlight the Church’s mission in northern Thailand: to nurture faith, build community, and integrate the richness of local culture with the Gospel, especially among the young.
