The first gathering of the Redemptorist Confreres from Madagascar engaged in the mission of Christ the Redeemer in Europe took place successfully in Teano, from Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 July 2026, bringing together twelve of the fourteen Malagasy confreres who work and study on the European continent.
We give thanks to God, who we believe is the source of the success of this entire initiative.
A fraternal Get-Together
The meeting—which included moments of prayer, conviviality, shared meals, recreation, and a pilgrimage to the historic diocese of Sant’Alfonso—took place from Tuesday evening to Thursday morning, helping to strengthen our unity and brotherhood.
Although the time was short, the joy it inspired in everyone’s hearts was immense, including that of the faithful who united in prayer at the Sanctuary of Santa Reparata and the Redemptoristine Sisters, who were visited especially during the pilgrimage.
We hope that the brothers who participated in this gathering returned safely to their communities, bringing with them joy, vitality, and renewed strength to face and further enhance their respective missions.
Gratitude
Special thanks go to Father Provincial Gennaro Sorrentino, who encouraged and facilitated this fraternal meeting. We also thank the respective communities to which the Malagasy brothers belong for having kindly consented and authorized their trip to Teano; some Superiors even personally accompanied them to the meeting and back.
A look to the future
Although this first gathering has concluded, the possibility of future annual gatherings remains open, involving those serving in Europe on a rotating basis. Therefore, the next gathering here in Teano is tentatively scheduled for July 6-8, 2027. Suggestions from everyone on how to improve and expand this event for the common good are always welcome.
May the blessing of the Most Holy Trinity, together with the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Mother of Perpetual Help) and Saint Alphonsus—united with the saints and blesseds of the Congregation—accompany and enlighten us, forever strengthening our mutual love and fraternal unity. Praised be Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
