On Friday, 14 August 2026, the eve of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, Vice-Province of West Africa, rejoiced and gave thanks to God for the gift of four young brothers who made their perpetual profession in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, following the footsteps of our founder, St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori.
The four brothers who made their perpetual profession are: Brother Michael Adu Obeng, Brother Idossa Jean Batcho, Brother Boubié Charles Bassono and Brother Pascal Tandamba.
Through their definitive commitment, they have chosen to consecrate their entire lives to Christ and to the Redemptorist mission, especially in the service of the most abandoned.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Noël Sottima, C.Ss.R., Coordinator of COREAM. In his homily, he explained the profound meaning of religious vows and their importance in the life of consecrated persons. He particularly reflected on the three vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, which help religious to configure their lives more closely to Christ and to live their vocation and mission faithfully.
Fr. Noël also encouraged the young brothers to keep their hearts open, filled with love, generosity, availability, and commitment to God, their confrères, and the People of God. He emphasized the importance of developing a deep love for their vocation and remaining faithful to the call they have received.
Following the homily, Fr. Noël Sottima, C.Ss.R., together with Fr. Olivier Nobila Sawadogo, C.Ss.R., Vice-Provincial of West Africa, received the perpetual vows of the four young brothers. This solemn moment was celebrated in an atmosphere of deep thanksgiving, joy, and fraternal communion.
Surrounded by their confrères, concelebrants, families, and the Christian community, we give thanks to God for the gift of these four new perpetually professed Redemptorists.
On behalf of the entire Vice-Province of West Africa, we warmly congratulate Brother Michael Adu Obeng, Brother Idossa Jean Batcho, Brother Boubié Charles Bassono, and Brother Pascal Tandamba on their perpetual profession.
May Christ the Redeemer strengthen them in their consecration, may the Blessed Virgin Mary accompany them throughout their journey, and may St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori intercede for them, so that they may remain faithful to their vocation and generous in the mission.
Congratulations to our four newly perpetual professed brothers! May the Lord bless them and keep them faithful to the end.
