On January 13 and 14, 2025, in the Region of Colombo, we were blessed to experience these sacred days at Sancta Maria Shrine, Kandy, as we embarked on an exciting new journey with the youth. This marks the beginning of a mission to nurture the next generation of faithful disciples of the Holy Redeemer in Sri Lanka.
A Meaningful Workshop for Youth Engagement
Under the theme of Youthfulness and Skills, the recent workshop proved to be both inspiring and impactful. It was designed to help young people draw closer to Jesus by engaging in outreach to the most abandoned in our communities. The program was open to all youth within our mission’s reach, extending beyond a single parish to invite participation from multiple areas.
A Growing Community of Young Disciples
Nearly 20 enthusiastic young participants joined us from three parishes: St. Teresa’s Church, St. Nicholas Parish in Bopitiya, and Holy Rosary Church in Hewadiwela. Their willingness to embrace the program with joy and commitment was a source of great encouragement and hope for the future of our mission in Sri Lanka. It is clear that the next generation is ready to take on the mantle of faith and service.
Building a Strong Redemptorist Youth Group
This workshop was also a crucial step in establishing a strong and faithful Redemptorist youth group. A six-month action plan has been developed, and we are already planning for another gathering to continue this journey. With God’s blessings and guidance, we are optimistic about the bright and fruitful future of our mission with young people in Sri Lanka.
Looking Ahead
We remain deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with these passionate young people. We also continue to seek the intercession of our founder, St. Alphonsus, as we follow in the footsteps of the Holy Redeemer. Our hope is that more young people will be inspired to join this mission in Sri Lanka in the years ahead.
Let us continue to pray for God’s blessings as we move forward together in faith.
