On June 13, 2025, in a moving ceremony held at the Polish Embassy in Dublin, Rev. Fr. Marszałek Mariam Marek, C.Ss.R., was awarded the Polish State decoration – the Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland. This distinguished award recognizes his 35 years of dedicated missionary service and tireless work for the people of Burkina Faso.

Fr. Marek, a Polish-born Redemptorist missionary, is a devoted member of the Vice Province of West Africa. His decades of commitment to the poor, the marginalized, and those most in need exemplify the Redemptorist charism of preaching the Gospel ever anew. Through his pastoral ministry, community development efforts, and deep solidarity with the people of Burkina Faso, Fr. Marek has embodied the love of Christ and the spirit of the Redeemer.

This national honor is not only a recognition of personal merit but a celebration of the missionary spirit that crosses borders and cultures. It is a powerful reminder that faithful service, rooted in the Gospel, continues to transform lives and inspire hope.

We, the Redemptorist family—his confreres in the Vice Province of West Africa, the wider Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, and friends and collaborators around the world—congratulate Fr. Marek on this well-deserved recognition. We give thanks to God for his life and witness, and we pray for continued strength, health, and joy in his mission.

Fr. Marek, your service is a blessing to the Church and the world. Congratulations and thank you!
