As part of their study trip, on 7 October, forty-five students from the Collegium Josephinum in Bonn, accompanied by teachers Bodo Schwarz and Thomas Wilbert, and headmaster Thomas Braunsfeld, visited the General Curia of the Redemptorists and the Alphonsian Academy in Rome.

The group was warmly welcomed by Father Rogério Gomes, Superior General of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, together with the members of the General Council.

‘It was a great honour for us: Father Gomes wanted to celebrate Holy Mass in German himself!’ reports the Collegium’s website, accompanying the news with a group photo taken in the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rome.

After the celebration and a time for fellowship, Father Christoph led the students on a tour of the Alphonsian Academy, offering them a privileged ‘behind the scenes’ look at one of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions dedicated to moral theology.

‘It was very exciting to be there in person and to be welcomed directly by the Father General,’ reads the report published by the Collegium. Heartfelt thanks were also given to Father Edward and Father Gregor for organising the visit and providing the photographs that commemorate this moment.

The Collegium Josephinum Bonn (CoJoBo for short) has its roots in the Redemptorist juvenate and college, which in the 1980s was transformed into a state-recognised school for boys. Run by the Redemptorists of the Province of St. Clement, the school now comprises a secondary school and a middle school.
