On June 6, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m., the Aula Magna of the Alphonsian Academy in Rome will host the second annual event of the interdisciplinary economics program “For a Synodal and Entrepreneurial Moral Conscience.” This day is open to all—in person or online—to reflect together on an economy capable of restoring the centrality of the person, with the participation of nationally renowned economists, scientists, and theologians. Registration is free and available at the links below.

The program  “For a Synodal and Entrepreneurial Moral Conscience”  —which enjoys the moral patronage of the General Secretariat of the Synod, the Pontifical Lateran University, the Forum of Family Associations, the Italian Association for Culture and Quality, and several local authorities—reaches its second annual event with a program divided into two parts.

After the institutional greetings, the morning will open with an interdisciplinary round table discussion bringing together three complementary perspectives on the central themes of the process—systemic vision, synodality, and entrepreneurship. Professor Simona Beretta (Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan) will present the economic perspective; Professor Alessandro Giuliani (La Sapienza University, Rome) the scientific perspective; and Father Luca Peyron (Salesian University Institute, Turin) the theological perspective.

Following this, Prof. Stefano Zamagni (University of Bologna) will hold a Lectio Magistralis entitled “Entrepreneurial Awareness and Integral Human Development.”

ECONOMIC PATH PROFILE

Following the will of the Father, Jesus has walked and walks the paths of man every day, entering into the history of every person as into the path of humanity, ensuring at all times that he walks alongside us: “where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Mt 18:20).

In following Him, we are therefore called to develop a synodal awareness , to walk together with Him, listening to Him, and together with one another, listening to one another and drawing close to one another, because we are brothers, because we are children of the same Father; because we find Him in every neighbor.

Walking with us as the firstborn, Jesus then took upon himself the needs of the whole person and of all people, making our integral development possible and thus calling us to follow him with an entrepreneurial conscience, from the Latin etymology in-prehendĕre, to take upon oneself.

This entrepreneurial journey together, taking upon ourselves the needs of one another, thus becomes the time and place in which a “new” economy emerges, in which the intelligence of the person is a co-protagonist, able to relate by creating value, because he is the image of God. An economy that orders everything in harmony, with the eco-systemic logic of Creation.

Historically, the first system created by a person is the Family , with its home (oikos), a system in which people naturally learn to walk together, valuing their differences; a system that develops by each taking upon themselves the needs of the other, in reciprocity, towards the integral development of each member. A system, therefore, that is in itself the prototype of every social system, including the Business system, called to extend human intelligence and expand human capacities to create value.

But the business system is increasingly at risk of developing unsustainably, in symbiosis with alternative, individualistic approaches, far removed from integral development. Governed in this way, the business system also pollutes social life and uses technology to govern the world. We must therefore revive in our consciousness the sense of walking together and a genuine entrepreneurial spirit, also to safeguard human intelligence.
