On 23rd of July, the Redemptorist Vice-Province of Manila officially opened its three-day Lay Assembly 2026, gathering lay partners from various mission communities to deepen their commitment to the shared mission of evangelization and service. Guided by the theme “Reflect, Celebrate, Grow,” the assembly provides an opportunity for participants to renew their sense of vocation, strengthen their bonds of collaboration, and celebrate their journey as co-workers in the Redemptorist mission.
Participants include lay partners from the mission communities of Baclaran, Legazpi, Lipa, the Formation Community, and the Northern Luzon Community, together with representatives from the Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) Ministry and the Province of Cebu.
The assembly commenced with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Mhel Dacillo, C.Ss.R., Rector of the Redemptorist Legazpi Mission Community. The Eucharistic celebration set a prayerful and grace-filled tone for the gathering, reminding everyone that Christ remains at the center of all missionary endeavors.
Following the Mass, participants were introduced to the objectives and vision of the assembly. Through orientation sessions and fellowship activities, members had the opportunity to get to know one another, fostering a spirit of unity and collaboration among the different mission communities.
An inspiring keynote address was delivered by Fr. Raymond Urriza, C.Ss.R., Vice-Provincial Superior of the Redemptorist Vice-Province of Manila. In his message, he encouraged the participants to continue embracing their role as missionary disciples and faithful partners in the Redemptorist apostolate, highlighting the importance of communion, participation, and mission in the life of the Church.
The day concluded with the first session, “Remember the Journey,” during which lay partners, volunteers, and staff members shared personal testimonies of faith, service, and mission. Their stories reflected years of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the Redemptorist charism. The sharing became a powerful reminder that every act of generosity and service contributes to the proclamation of the Gospel and the building of God’s Kingdom.
As the assembly continues over the coming days, participants look forward to moments of reflection, celebration, learning, and fellowship. Together, they seek to strengthen their partnership in mission and renew their commitment to bringing hope and the message of abundant redemption to those most in need.
