On June 6, 2025, the Central Hall (Aula Magna) of the Pontifical Institute of Alphonsian Academy will host a major event dedicated to research and formation for a synodal and entrepreneurial moral conscience. The central moment of the event will be the lectio magistralis entitled “Synodality and Social Development,” presented by Card. Mario Grech, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Synod.

Context and Objectives

We live in a historical period of great social upheaval, characterized by a poly-crisis that, as recalled by Pope Francis and recently by Pope Leo XIV, invades the most vital sectors of society. This context generates disorientation and fear of the future, especially among young people.

In response to these challenges, the Pontifical Institute Alphonsian Academy has felt the responsibility to offer a multi-year path of research and formation. This path, based on an interdisciplinary scientific and anthropological approach, is based on the Social Doctrine of the Church, Alphonsian morality and good practices.

Inaugural Event

The centre of the inaugural event on June 6 will be the lectio magistralis entitled “Synodality and Social Development,” presented by Card. Mario Grech, Secretary General of the General Secretariat of the Synod.

Presentation of the Pathway

The new pathway will be presented by one of its coordinators, Dr. Giorgio Del Signore, and will be developed by the research and training projects area of the Pontifical Institute, founded 75 years ago by the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. This path will investigate the relationship between science and faith as the root of economic and social innovation, networking with various organizations and other proven economic paths.

Keynote Speakers

On the quality of relationships in business and professional communities and their reflections in the social sphere, Dr. Sergio Formai, Sectors Coordinator of the Italian Quality Culture Association, will speak.

Emphasis will also be given to the family, as the first place of reciprocity and a laboratory of economic and civic value. This will be discussed by Dr. Adriano Bordignon, National President of the Forum of Family Associations.
