Theme: “REDEEM – To Proclaim Redemption” (cf. Luke 4:18)

The Tamil Nadu Mission Zone of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer organized a three-day Vocation Camp from April 9 to 11, 2026, at the Redemptorist Community (Anbaham), Kavi Bharati Nagar, K.K. Nagar, K. Sathanur P.O., Trichy, India. The camp was coordinated by Tamil Nadu Zone Vocation Promoter, with the collaboration and support of the confreres of the Mission Zone.

The camp was centered around the theme “REDEEM,” inspired by Luke 4:18: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me… to proclaim redemption.” This theme guided the entire program, inviting the participants to understand vocation as a call to participate in Christ’s mission of redemption, especially among the most abandoned.

A total of six candidates from different parts of Tamil Nadu participated in the camp: One participant from Chennai, currently working as an accountant, three participants from Palladam who have completed higher secondary education, one participant from Mettupalayam who has completed 10th standard, one participant from Mariyanallur (Coimbatore) who has completed 12th std. The diversity of age and background enriched the experience, allowing for meaningful sharing and mutual learning.

Program and Sessions

The camp was structured to provide a balanced experience of formation, prayer, interaction, and community life. The opening session introduced the concept of vocation through the Gospel call of the first disciples (Matthew 4:19–20), emphasizing vocation as a personal response to Christ’s invitation. This was followed by a session on the need for priests and brothers in the Church, helping participants understand different forms of vocation. Participants were then introduced to the Redemptorist Congregation—its history, charism, and mission. An activity-based session on the Redemptorist logo and identity enabled them to engage more deeply with the spirituality of the Congregation.

On the second day, sessions on Redemptorist saints and blesseds offered inspiring examples of lives dedicated to proclaiming redemption. A session on Redemptorist ministries helped the participants understand the diverse apostolates of the Congregation. A special session on the Mother of Perpetual Help highlighted the role of Mary in vocation and discipleship.

Interactive and Experiential Elements

The camp was designed to be participatory and engaging. Ice-breaking sessions, group activities, and games created a relaxed environment that encouraged openness among the participants. A panel discussion was conducted in a creative format, allowing the boys to express their thoughts and questions regarding vocation. Sharing sessions by the confreres, where they narrated their personal vocation journeys, became one of the most impactful moments of the camp. Prayer and Spiritual Life, the spiritual dimension of the camp was central to the experience. Each day included: Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Rosary, and Eucharistic Adoration. These moments provided the participants with an opportunity for silence, prayer, and personal encounter with Christ.

Community Life and Cultural Evening

The camp fostered a strong sense of fraternity. A cultural evening, organized with the participation of confreres and college students, brought joy and vibrancy through songs and performances. A movie night and informal interactions further helped the participants feel at home and build relationships.

On the final day, personal interviews were conducted with each candidate, providing space for individual accompaniment and initial discernment. The camp concluded with a valedictory session and group photographs. As a closing experience, the participants were taken to a nearby bird sanctuary in Trichy, offering a relaxed setting for fellowship before departure.

Collaboration and Support

The success of the camp was made possible through the dedicated collaboration of the confreres of the Tamil Nadu Mission Zone. The Redemptorist Community at Trichy graciously hosted the camp and ensured all arrangements. The Mission Zone leadership provided guidance and coordination. Confreres contributed through sessions, discussions, and accompaniment. The college students of Trichy played a significant role in assisting with logistics, including preparing facilities, organizing meals, and maintaining the premises.

The Vocation Camp provided a meaningful space for young men to encounter Christ, reflect on their lives, and begin discerning their vocation. Rooted in the theme “REDEEM,” the camp helped the participants understand vocation not merely as a personal choice, but as a call to share in Christ’s mission of redemption.

The Tamil Nadu Mission Zone continues to entrust these young aspirants to the Lord, praying that they may listen attentively to His voice and respond generously.
